I know where you are coming from, I have a nephew and I've written here about him, very smart kid but is wasting his life in this cult, he stopped attending public school so he can go door to door. When I ask him about college he says that he has other plans for his life, I say what about higher education he says that he wants to go to Bethel, I say don't you think they need smart people at Bethel, he says he will learn everything he needs to know over there. Poor kid, he is already baptized and door knocking, the only thing I can do is just be there when he decides its all a scam.

Do you think the Society has spies on sites like this?
by easyreader1970 innot that any of them would post, but do you think that they have people who they secretly have visit anti-jw sites and forums like this just for the purpose of seeing what people are saying about them and what their current members might stumble upon?.
if you google jws, the first couple are official, the next two are wikis, then you have an anti-jw site and then there's this one.
any current or potential member that is looking for more information than is published by the wbts will be directed to these sites.

Opinion poll: Is it wrong for grandparents to buy presents for all but one?
by cognizant dissident inmy parents (jw's) have 4 small grandchildren between the ages of 5 and 8. they recently went on a trip and brought back presents for 3 of the kids but left out one because they "didn't have time to find anything".
my sister was very upset and refused to accept the present for her daughter if they had nothing for her son.
my parents thought she was making a big deal out of nothing and since gifts are voluntary, technically, they don't have to buy them for any of the kids and can do so as they choose.

sorry to kind of go off topic here but I know the Mormon church has kind of a welfare program that helps members who are having a hard time, they have like a food bank and I heard they give monthly checks too. Isn't it weird that God True organization doesn't have something like that? Especially in these hard times blah blah blah moses etc.

well you are still young and you can just start your life from this point on, I've seen a few people do just that and now they are happy. It's never to late to start college, in fact I am thinking about going back just for fun and taking like art history or something fun like that. It seems like the main factor that people such as you stay in is family, be it a wife or parents, I can tell you from my own experiance I left when I was about 15, I got the shit kicked out of me, each time I refused to go to meeting, assembly or memorial more and more was taken and more punishment, however I lived and some in my family shunned me still to this day, but others came around I'd say the first couple years is the hardest but looking back THANK GOD I did what I did, and I am glad to be where I am now. What were the things that troubled you as a JW?
by Mickey mouse ini'm not necessarily asking for the big stumbling blocks here or things you discovered once you started doing your own research outside the borg.
i'm talking about the smaller things.. for me one thing was the talk of no one being able to become a witness unless "jehovahs drew them to him".
as a born-in this never jived with me.
